SKITTLES, Test Time & Giveaway Reminder !

It's only Tuesday, and I'm already ready for a nap tomorrow...and I had one today.

Our state testing started today, and I am so thankful right now to be a first grade teacher simply because it just makes me sad to see the anxiety in other teacher's faces, and hear children...CHILDREN...say "I'm just not ready... I'm not sure I'm going to do well today... I don't know enough".  Absolutely breaks my heart, and those were just three I heard this morning at breakfast.  I know there is a need for testing, but it just upsets me to think that little children already think they're whole worth is being measured my one test. There has to be a better way.

That all being said, with the state test, we had a different schedule. I'm all about being flexible, but wow, did it about kill me. We had one first grade teacher pulled to proctor so that class was split, then we had no recess (boo!), we had to eat lunch with our kids (eww!), and 15 minute specials. Now. before I start sounding like a today WHINER, I want to say to those teachers that do those things EVERY DAY. WOW!!!  You are SUPERwoman..or man :)

I have read blogs of teachers with 28 kids... those with no specials (art, music, PE), and those that don't get to have recess, and all I have to say is YOU Deserve a massage, pedicure, all expense paid vacation to a tropical island, whatever... for doing this every day.

I'm pooped.

So, I'm keeping it <kinda> short, but wanted to link up with this week's "Let's Get Acquainted" Linky with Flying into First Grade...

This weeks's Topic  - Skittles Game

Here is the code:
Red- Favorite Ice Cream Flavor
Orange- Favorite Memory from College
Yellow- Favorite Sports Team
Green- Favorite Fast Food Place
Purple- Wild Card(Tell anything about yourself)

Red: My favorite ice cream flavor.... HANDS DOWN, Rocky Rock...Baskin Robbins' Rocky Road
It is the BEST ice cream in the world. When I was little, my daddy used to pick me up & take me to get a single scoop of this exact ice cream. It is one of my favorite memories, and something I will always cherish. I'm a daddy's girl all the way, and that ice cream always takes me back :)

Orange- Favorite College Memory
Wow! That's a hard one.  I did a lot of traveling in college, so that would probably be it. I had the chance to go to Europe and finally see Italy ( a dream of mine!) and all the beauty that place holds. I have been obsessed with the Colosseum in Rome since I was a little girl & I got to stand right in the middle of it & take it all in! Amazing!

We went to Switzerland, Germany and France.  Then, there were all the road trips, beach trips, and concerts.  Just the freedom of getting in the car and going somewhere with the innocence and love of the college days was the BEST! :)

YELLOW - Favorite sports team...
I'm a HUGE sports fan!!  There's nothing like football season, and in the south, it's almost like a religion. My favorite team is the Tennessee Vols, and I love them in good times and bad (and we have definitely had MORE of the bad than good lately). But, I still love 'em. As they say, I'm All VOL! :)
Green - Favorite Fast Food Place...
Ummm... I wish I was super healthy and could say "uhh.. I don't eat fast food", but the truth is, it's just easier sometimes.  My favorite is probably Zaxby's. They have the BEST chicken fingers ever! :)
I think they're mostly in the south, but it's always a go-to when it's time for some greasy fast food!

Purple - Wild Card !!
Wow, I have no idea what to share. Okay, something weird about me ( I mean, why not, right?!), my colleagues and friends call me Rain Man because I remember most of everything. Apparently, it's a trait I get from my dad, but I do remember WAY too much stuff.  Like what I was wearing the first day of school EVERY year I was in school, K-12...the date of my first kiss (and what I was wearing), birthdays of just about anyone, just random stuff. I swear, I think some of that stuff needs to leave my brain so I can make more room for the important stuff...

Like... where I left my keys or if I remembered my phone halfway through a car trip. ugh.

So those are my SKITTLES....what about yours?? Link up so everyone can get to know a little more about you :)
